Eat

Photo scan

Snap your plate. That’s it.

Tally spots each food on the plate and estimates the portion, calories and macros. Fix anything with a tap before you save.

Salmon dinner · 640 cal · 46g protein

Honest estimates

Not sure? It asks.

When the photo could be salmon or trout, Tally asks instead of guessing. One tap and the numbers tighten.

Tally asks “Is this salmon or trout?” with Salmon, Trout and Something else, 620–660 calories
Eat together

Ate together?
It’s in both logs.

Tag who you ate with and the meal saves to their log too. Everyone gets their own copy, so Maya can change her portion without touching yours.

Only the meals you’re tagged in are shared.
Your daily total never is.

Lift

Train together

Lift together. Log it once.

Start Legs day with Maya. Log both of you on one phone, or each on your own, and every set syncs live. When you finish, it saves to both logs.

Tally only looks for friends already on Tally. It never keeps other people’s numbers, and never texts them.

Questions, answered.

Still curious? Visit support.

Is Tally really free?
Yes. Every feature is free. There’s no Pro tier, no paywall, no trial and no ads.
Which phones does it work on?
iPhone. Get it free on the App Store. There’s no Android version yet.
Is it available in Canada?
Yes. Tally is available in the US and Canada, and you sign in with a US or Canadian phone number. If search misses a local favorite, snap it or describe it and Tally estimates it.
Can my friends see my weight?
No. Nothing is shared until you post it. Your body weight, weigh-ins, daily calorie totals, targets and notes are never shared with anyone, and nobody sees your time zone. You can preview your profile exactly as others see it.
How does photo scan work, and who sees my photo?
Take a photo of your plate. Tally sends it to OpenAI, whose AI model picks out each food and estimates the portion, calories and macros. Describe it works the same way with what you type. OpenAI gets only the photo or text, never your name, phone number or weight, and doesn’t train on it. When the AI isn’t sure, Tally asks, and you can fix anything before you save. The scan screen says who estimates it before you take the photo, and if you’d rather not use AI, search the food database instead.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Profile → Settings → Delete account. It’s immediate: your meals, workouts, weigh-ins and progress are deleted, and so are your posts, comments and follows. Friends keep their own copies of workouts and meals you shared with them.
What happens when I log something with a friend?
It saves to everyone who was there. Each person gets their own copy, so you can edit or remove yours without changing theirs.
Do I need friends on Tally?
No. Food logging, workouts and forecasts all work on your own. Friends just make it more fun.
When do forecasts start?
Strength forecasts start after your first week, once you’ve logged a lift twice. Weight forecasts need five weigh-ins over at least ten days. They’re estimates, and they sharpen the more you log.
How do I sign in?
With your phone number. We text you a 6-digit code, so there’s no password to remember.
Is Tally medical advice?
No. Tally helps you track food and training. Check with a doctor before big changes to how you eat or train.
