1. Who can use Tally#

Tally is for people 16 and older who live in the US or Canada. By using Tally, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

2. Your account#

You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code sent by text message (through Firebase, a Google service). It’s one phone number per person and one account per number. Keep your phone secure, because anyone who has it can get your sign-in codes.

3. Your content#

What you log and post is yours: meals, photos, workouts, weigh-ins, posts and comments. So we can run Tally, you let us store, copy and process it, check what you share (see Community rules), and show it to the people you choose to share it with. That permission ends when you delete it or your account, except for the copies friends keep of things you shared with them.

4. Shared workouts and meals#

When you log a workout or a meal with friends, it saves to everyone who was there. Each person gets their own copy and can edit or remove it without changing anyone else’s. If a friend logs a workout you weren’t at, tap I wasn’t there and it comes off your log.

5. Friends and followers#

You can follow people you find on Tally. People you know can follow you right away and anyone else asks first; you can change that in Settings → Privacy. Two people who follow each other are friends. A personal invite link makes whoever opens it first your friend, so send it only to the person it’s for. You can remove a follower or block anyone at any time, and blocking removes everything between you, both ways.

6. AI estimates and forecasts#

Photo scan and describe it use AI from OpenAI to estimate food, portions and nutrition. Estimates can be wrong, so check them before you save. Forecasts are estimates based on what you log. They change as you log more, and they aren’t promises.

7. Health disclaimer#

Tally helps you track food and training. It isn’t medical advice and doesn’t diagnose or treat anything. Check with a doctor before big changes to how you eat or train, especially if you’re pregnant or have a health condition.

8. Food data from fatsecret#

Food search results and nutrition facts come from the fatsecret Platform API. They can be incomplete or out of date, and you can edit any entry in your log.

9. Community rules#

Keep Tally a good place to train. These rules apply to everything you share: your name, handle, bio and photo, and your posts, photos, captions and comments. Please don’t:

  • post nudity or sexual content (shirtless gym photos are fine; underwear-only photos aren’t)
  • harass, bully, threaten or impersonate anyone, or comment on anyone’s body or food
  • post a photo of someone without their permission
  • post anything illegal or hateful, or anything that encourages self-harm or disordered eating
  • spam follows or invites, or try to get around a block
  • scrape, reverse engineer or overload Tally

We don’t tolerate objectionable content or abusive behavior. Photos and text you share are checked automatically by OpenAI’s moderation service, and a person on our team may look at a shared photo that is flagged or reported. We remove what breaks these rules and may suspend or close the account that posted it.

Report a profile, post, photo or comment from its menu. A person reviews every report within 24 hours.

10. Ending your account#

You can delete your account in the app any time: Profile → Settings → Delete account. It’s immediate. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why unless the law or someone’s safety stops us.

11. Disclaimers and liability#

Tally is provided as is. We work hard to keep it running and accurate, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. As far as the law allows, Tally isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer protection laws where you live.

12. Changes#

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always shows the current version.

13. Governing law#

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Tally is established. If you live in Canada or in a US state whose consumer laws can’t be waived, those laws still protect you, and you can bring a claim where you live.
